Civil Litigation

Civil Litigation is a legal dispute, between two or more parties, that seeks money damages or specific performance rather than criminal sanctions. The firm has achieved excellent results for our civil litigation clients at every level of the dispute process. When possible, the firm resolves cases in pre-suit settlements to save client costs. However, the majority of the firm's cases require a lawsuit filed in circuit court in Jefferson County or Shelby County in which the amount in controversy is $10,000 or greater. The firm also handles cases in federal court in the Northern District of Alabama, which traditionally is more formal than state circuit courts. In select circumstances, the firm handles cases in district court or small claims court.

Jury trial experience is a significant advantage of retaining the firm. Lindsey Eastwood has a passion for trial work. As the daughter of a career U.S. Attorney and federal prosecutor who specialized in jury trials in white collar cases, Lindsey grew up listening to her father tell stories about his trials. Her bedtime stories involved witness testimony, crime scene evidence, attorney arguments, and jury verdicts. These stories instilled in her a lifelong respect for jurors and the importance of the American justice system. Lindsey sincerely enjoys trying cases when the facts of a case prevent pre-trial settlement. Her passion for trial work and intelligent case strategy contributed to Lindsey Eastwood's record of winning each of the three jury trials she has tried since 2014 when she was admitted to the Alabama Bar.

Notwithstanding the firm's talent for trial work, we understand that not every case that is filed is designed to be tried. Settlement is often the most cost-effective solution. Our firm makes every effort to settle cases in the most efficient manner possible.

Lindsey Eastwood Law is small enough to remain personally accessible to the firm's clients.  Since starting her private practice, Lindsey successfully represents small businesses and individuals in business disputes and personal injury cases. The firm has achieved excellent settlements for our clients, and as a result, Lindsey Eastwood Law has retained each business law client her firm served since the firm opened in 2016. Also, both our personal injury and business clients refer their friends and family members to our firm.

Meeting clients' needs means much more to our firm than just providing quality legal advice and representation. Lindsey Eastwood Law is committed to providing legal services that meet the highest standards of the legal profession. Whether Lindsey is appearing in court, conducting negotiations or otherwise representing her clients, Lindsey pays great attention to each case, promptly answering all of your questions with straightforward, honest answers. The firm works hard to protect your interests while ensuring your decisions are respected.
